Alone this Valentine’s Day? Don’t worry. KIMEP University student organizations are preparing a series of events for those looking to celebrate — with or without a date.

There are three upcoming Valentine’s Day events which will be held on the university campus. The celebrations aim to give students multiple ways to engage with the holiday, whether through art or performance, without leaving the university.

Valentine’s Day by Art Revolution

One of the events, “Valentine’s Day by Art Revolution,” will take place Feb. 13 in the Valikhanov Building’s Chill Room. The official program will last two hours and will feature live music and interactive activities organized by the Art Revolution team. According to Arina Lyssenko, president of Art Revolution, the event will include a carefully curated song list and activities that have not been done before.

“We have an incredible song list. We cannot spoil anything yet,” Lyssenko said. “The same goes for the activities prepared — just trust the fact that we have never done most of them before.” Guests are encouraged to dress in pink, red, or white, and artists are preparing aesthetic stickers and cosmetic designs for the event.

Theme Night — Forms of Love

Another Valentine’s Day-themed event, “Theme Night — Forms of Love,” will be organized by the Literature Society Feb. 13 in Hall 6 of the Valikhanov Building from 4 to 6 p.m. The event will focus on different interpretations of love in literature, going beyond romantic relationships.

Alima Zeinulla, a third-year student and president of the Literature Society, said several speakers will present analyses of relationships between literary characters.

“This may include romantic — and not only romantic — relationships,” Zeinulla said. Speakers will be interviewed in advance to coordinate topics and avoid repetition.

Poetry Night by KIMEP Times

A third Valentine’s Day-related event, “Poetry Night,” will be organized by KIMEP Times Feb. 16 at 6 p.m. The event is expected to take place in a common hall, such as Room 208 or 216, and will last approximately two to two-and-a-half hours, including a coffee break.

“Poetry Night is a classic KIMEP Times idea, something that has existed for years, especially considering how many different events other organizations hold,” said Ilya Dmitriyev, a fourth-year student and president of KIMEP Times.

“The romantic evening itself was planned back in the spring and submitted for the Fall 2025 budget. The Student Government later moved it closer to Feb. 14 because it fit the theme better. It will be a classic poetry night with romantic short stories, love poems, and songs.”

Dmitriyev said the event was originally planned as a collaboration with KIMEP Geeks but was later reorganized.

“Originally, the event was planned as a collaboration with KIMEP Geeks — basically the same format as the Fall 2022 event about pioneers,” he said. “This semester, KIMEP Geeks ended up being quite busy, so we decided to hold the event on our own. We will gather in a small circle of friends and people who enjoy creativity, make valentines, and have something to eat.”

All events are free and open to KIMEP students, whether they plan to attend with friends, partners, or on their own.
