A podcast, featuring reporter Aiday Kerimkulova, talks to KIMEP alumni about how they achieved success after graduation and how their time at the university shaped their journey.
“I wanted to create something that connects current students with alumni,” said Kerimkulova. “Hearing real stories from people who were once in our shoes can be both inspiring and practical for students as they navigate their own paths.”
The podcast, “Pathways: The KIMEP Alumni Journey,” aims to showcase alumni experiences, offering insights into life beyond campus.
“It’s not just about where they are now, but also the challenges and lessons that shaped them along the way,” Kerimkulova said.
This project is the first of what the KIMEP Voice envisions as a series of multimedia storytelling initiatives.
“We want to explore a lot of different ways to tell stories at KIMEP,” said Scott Burgess, journalism professor and KIMEP Voice editor-in-chief. “Aiday did a great job with this initial podcast. In the future, we’re going to include video podcasts for YouTube, travel videos from around Kazakhstan, and discussions about lots of issues.”
Sanat Koshen, a KIMEP University alumnus, was featured in the first podcast. Currently part of PwC Kazakhstan’s Advisory division, he brings expertise in deals and transactions, complemented by leadership roles at Red Bull Kazakhstan and Efes Kazakhstan. A former president of KIMEP’s student government, Koshen also adds a creative spark to his life as a part-time DJ.
Kerimkulova’s podcast is already available on Spotify, and she’s planning more episodes.
“I’m excited to bring more voices to the series,” said Kerimkulova. “We’re reaching out to alumni from different industries, and I’m also considering student spotlights to make it even more relatable.”
