The air is cold, but the heart is warm.
Despite the chill of the autumn evening, three student organizations were able to create a cozy atmosphere for students with free entry. Moreover, this collaboration between the student organizations was the first of its kind at KIMEP University.
At 8°C, the organizations Geeks, KIMEP Times, and JARQYN KIMEP offered KIMEP students a chance to warm up on the football field with an open-air movie screening, a night of poetry, jewelry-making, Papa John’s pizza, and a photo booth, where students could capture a little keepsake of the evening.
“Instead of expecting chaos and disorder, the guys got a cozy and bright fair,” said head of HR department of KIMEP Geeks, Danial Yermanov.

The expectations from sky cinema were promising, Yermanov said, as the preparation was quite intense. On the part of Geeks, there were more than three meetings and one general meeting. Nevertheless, the guys from all the organizations worked as a cohesive team and managed to make friends during the preparation.
The Geeks organization has been active since 2018 at the university and organizes activities for students, such as quests, Valentine’s Day events, marathons, and movie nights. On the football field, several red checkered blankets were spread out, with games like Mafia and Bunker already set up. Some groups of students quickly chose a blanket where they could hide their identity as Mafia.
Other students quickly occupied the comfortable poufs that filled almost the entire football field, where they watched the night of poetry presented by KIMEP Times.
KIMEP Times is a student newspaper organization that has been active since 1995. Here, creative individuals. The youth passionately recited their poems, balancing the evening between fun and art.
“Trembling before performing a poem, unfamiliar faces, friends, someone pouring tea… and I just enjoyed the moment,” said KIMEP Times member, Supiyeva Fikhorakhanum.
Supiyeva said how perfectly the romantic atmosphere of autumn and friendly students who listened attentively to her sensual poem combined. The evening mood and gathered students created a truly romantic atmosphere. The coolness of the night and the warmth of the welcoming crowd made Supiyeva’s performance of her heartfelt poem especially moving, inspiring the audience to feel deeply.
Despite some technical problems with the microphone, almost every student on the football field couldn’t help but sing along to “From the Start” by Laufey. Young musicians sang along quietly while the rest turned on their phone flashlights and supported the singer.
“Now I look at the beaded bracelet on my wrist and realize that I created something that will periodically remind me of this wonderful evening,” said Islam Gabdulkhaim.
Nearby the songs and poetry, students could create bracelets or necklaces with colorful beads provided by the JARQYN organization.

JARQYN is a corner of comfort and tranquility where students can relax and receive psychological support. Accordingly, at the ‘Sky Cinema’ event, JARQYN aimed to create its own space where any student could take a break from the lively bustle and meet other students.
Of course, beads alone can’t bring people together, but there were cups on the table filled with slips of paper containing interesting questions to help get to know each other. For example: “What do you love to romanticize in your life and why?” or “Share a situation where you managed to overcome your fear, even if it was a small one.”
One girl took a cup and approached another student who was also alone. After pulling out a random slip of paper from the cup, she asked, ‘Shall we play?’ Evelina Matyasheva asked, to which Kamila Isabaeva agreed.
“’Night at the Museum” is pure nostalgia. It’s a film I watched with friends when I was an 8-year-old kid; now I’m 20, surrounded by new friends and a new life.” said Gabdulkhaim.
