4 th CAREC Institute Annual Research Conference at KIMEP

The CAREC Institute Annual Research Conference will hold its fourth annual conference on Thursday and Friday, Aug. 29 and 30 at KIMEP University in the Valikhanov Building. This year’s conference will is titled “Rethinking Development Strategies: Green, Innovative, and Inclusive Development for the CAREC region.”
The conference, supported by Asian Development Bank, will focus on global trends in the energy sector, emission trading plans, specifically focusing on Central Asia, and have frank discussions about how the move toward sustainable energy can have geopolitical ramifications. The conference features dozens of researchers presenting their work and panel discussions on these topics.
The conference begins registration at 09:15 Thursday, and opening remarks begin at 10:00. Brookings Institute fellow Johannes F. Linn will deliver the keynote address.
