Students should know their voice matter, said the candidate for the dean of student affairs on Thursday, Sept. 5.

Dr. Christopher Bridges, a candidate for the dean of student affairs position, took part of an open meeting held by the Office of Provost and General Deputy to the President.

Bridges shared his philosophy and strategies of managing student affairs during the meeting.

He said as dean he would create an inclusion strategy that ensures all students feel like they matter and belong. He would make the student experience from their very first steps to KIMEP til the graduation smooth and full of opportunities, he said.

“Learning happens everywhere. Student affairs continues to work outside of the classroom, the entire campus is a learning community.” said Bridges.

Dr. Riviez, Vice President of Academic Affairs, said he shares the candidate’s philosophy and views on working and communication with students, empowering team wellness and growth.

Bridges holds a Ph.D. in Higher Education Leadership and Administration from Ohio University.

His career in student life has included roles such as Residence Hall Director at the University of Cincinnati, positions within the Office of Student Involvement at Xavier University, and most recently serving as the Vice President for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management at Mansfield University of Pennsylvania, a small public liberal arts institution.

This position was held by Dr. Aigerim Ibrayeva who was responsible for the overall supervision of student extra-curricular activities, student support services, and worked with faculty, staff and students. The dean provides a comprehensive learning environment that fosters the intellectual, psychological, social, leadership and recreational development for a diverse student population.
