Newly elected Student Government members celebrate the beginning of their term on the Inauguration ceremony

The KIMEP Student Association’s new cabinet members took their oath of service Thursday, as they officially became the new student government.
Students elected a new president, four vice presidents, and 12 deputies in October. Student participation in the elections was at 30%, the highest in the past three years. Some students expressed frustration about the lack of competitiveness, with only one candidate running for president.

The KSA Cabinet represents students and works with the administration. Each year a new cabinet is formed, and each year the switch is celebrated with the Inauguration ceremony.
“This year’s elections were truly remarkable,” said Rakhiya Toxanbayeva, KIMEP professor, during the opening speech.
“The reason I love it (elections), is because it is so good to see people, who deeply care for KIMEP,” said Timothy Barnett, Provost and General Deputy to the President, as the words of encouragement for the new KSA Cabinet members. He also thanked the previous cabinet for their improvements and changes brought to KIMEP.
